Automatic daily reports (PDF and .csv) are sent to various staff throughout the day for different activities.

Green Screen

Upon scanning to leave, parent permission, GPA, discipline status and other District-selected criteria are checked. If the student meets the criteria, their parents are instantly messaged to ensure parents remain aware of their student’s location.

Red Screen

If the student lacks parent permission or does not meet the GPA, discipline status or other District-provided criteria, the student will be shown a “Red” screen and the “Depart” features will be greyed-out and she or he will not be permitted to leave the building.

FAQs

What equipment is needed for Open Campus®?

At the door, you’ll need a laptop, desktop, Chromebook or tablet that’s connected to the internet, a modern browser (such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari or similar), and a 2D barcode scanner (if you’d like to use 2D/QR codes). Most existing Student ID cards work perfectly with Open Campus®.

Safe Scan works with most 2D (two-dimensional) barcode scanners. A typical 2D barcode scanner costs between $25 and $200 and read “normal” barcodes (like those you see on canned goods), but they also read 2 dimensional QR codes. Open Campus® uses QR codes to speed-up the scanning process. QR codes are not required on your student ID cards; “normal” barcode student IDs work great!

What student information is needed and how do you get it?

Student ID number, student first and last name, graduation year are needed as well as any criteria you’ll use to allow exits. If a District wanted to use three criteria (Parent Permission, Good Citizenship, Satisfactory GPA, an example student record from your SIS might look like this:

We work with your Technology or data person and help them set up the secure, nightly export from your Student Information System (SIS) to Open Campus®. All SIS systems can provide the data needed to populate Open Campus® and your existing .jpg student photos work great as well. Our data team has deep experience and can connect your information quickly and easily.
